The Dering House, located in historic downtown Columbus, was built in 1912 by Guy Dering, a local merchant. This fine residence exhibits the Prairie influence in its simple lines, window banding and barrel arched entry with "ears". While a guest at the Dering House, relax near the fireplace and enjoy the beauty of the craftsman style woodwork, crown molding and open stairway. The upstairs sunporch contains a sauna and large area to unwind in or gather with friends for games. The full breakfast always includes freshly baked pastries. The Red Bud Room with its queen-sized brass bed has a double whirl-pool tub set within an alcove. A velvet settee and small table provide added privacy. The private attached bath has an original pedestal sink. The spacious second floor Prairie Room's furnishings include a queen-sized sleigh bed, antique armoir, cafe table with chairs and a fainting couch. The large bath with original pedestal sink and large claw-foot tub may be enjoyed as private attached or shared. The James Room with its 4 poster bed has an antique bureau that blends well with grandfather's old trunk.
