Casa Maria is found in the picturesque old town of Escazu. The original indians of Costa Rica named Escazu, a word that meant 'resting place', a crossing of ancient trails where weary travellers stopped to rest, to meet others here and talk of the world. We of Casa Maria are carrying on in the spirit of this traditional concept. We supply an ideal setting for world travellers to shed their worries, to make new friends and to participate in exciting conversation with other globe-trotters.
Casa Maria has a funny little bar that is so inviting to its guests after a day of activities and excursions. When evening falls and conversation begins to flow across this bar, you can meet with well known artists, environmental scientists, entertainers as well as plumbing suppliers, and landscapers and European jam manufacturers. Imagine this heady blend and you, in that romantic atmosphere seen so often in the movies but so rare in real life. Casa Maria is far more than a mere bed & breakfast! And then we serve Dinner Family style.
Overlooking the beautiful Central Valley, just 15 minutes from San Jose or the airport, this serene setting is home to many interesting plants and birds. You'll stay in a picturesque country atmosphere, away from the city's noise and pollution but still close enough to all its activities. We often hear our guests say, "We certainly wish we had known of Casa Maria in the beginning," or, as another expressed it, "The personal attention, information, relaxed atmosphere and hospitality at Casa Maria made our vacation. We saved money and did the things we wanted to. It was restful and comfortable to come home to Casa Maria after an excursion.
