Proudly holding the honor in Belfast, Maine of being "one of the most photographed properties on the New England coast", this nationally renowned Greek Revival mansion was designed and built for James Patterson White in 1840 to create the showcase of coastal Maine.

Stepping into an era of understated elegance and privacy, THE WHITE HOUSE as registered on the National Register of Historic Places is located at "the foot of the square" beginning the Belfast historic district and affording an easy three block walk to the sea coast and five blocks to our unspolied historic town centre.

Sweeping views of the triangular shaped park-like grounds, botanical gardens and historic gazebo (the only gazebo listed on the National Register of Historic Places) instaill a sense of peace and tranquillity.

Upon entering the Inn you experience the graciousness and privacy reminiscent of that 160 year ago by-gone era. Striking interior architectural details abound. Admire the craftsmanship of the imported marble fireplaces, intricate thick plaster ceiling medallions, cornices and stunning antique and reproduction furnishings.

THE WHITE HOUSE is the first Inn in Belfast to be licensed by the city to allow its facilities to be used to host weddings, receptions, reunions and other functions. One innkkeeper is also commissioned by the state to officiate wedding ceremonies.

"BUILDING A REPUTATION OF PERSONAL SERVICE AND DEDICATION TO EXCELLENCE."
