Cook Island, a sixty-acre narrow Atlantic barrier reef island, is located an hour from Key West, accessible only by boat. For writers who want to be immersed in nature without the distractions of a high-tech life, MUSE facilitates inspiration and relaxation. Offering nourishing food, comfortable accommodations within a three-house enclave, and informal peer feedback gatherings and open mics for those who want to share their work, the retreats are hosted by in-residence published authors. Guest authors will visit for a day to dialogue and give input. The spirit of place is captured by Captain Cook's house, perfect for the writer who wants to renew his/her relationship with the senses. Retreats are available Monday-Friday, beginning in January. Fiction, non-fiction, and poetry workshops are scheduled from mid-February through May with well-known authors.
